"Design" as an artistic concept incorporated fundamentals of design; color, shape, and form. The dialogue in the galleries focused on how artists had and were using these fundamentals to explore a variety of design principles. Because "design" can feel intimidatingly large as a subject, this threshold experience aimed to invite audiences to participate as designers. Sheets of tyvek were installed with pre-planned grids as individual spaces that each visitor could fill with color or draw a pattern/image. As the grids filled, we moved the sheets up to create a community-designed wallpaper.
