Sunshine gay dreams
voices of the gay community
William Way Community Center | Philadelphia, PA
Over the course of one semester, I conceptually developed and designed an exhibition that centered on a specific facet of Philadelphia history. My concept featured the audio recordings of the first radio broadcast dedicated purely to the gay experience in the 1970s and 80s. The exhibition became a multisensory experience that was anchored by the audio recordings and centered them within major moments in Philadelphia queer culture. The actual voices of this historic time led the core narrative of the exhibition, and highlighted its contemporary qualities of pride, action, and support.
